Empowering East Baton Rouge Youth Through Complete Prom Sponsorship
Removing the barrier completely.
Every student deserves to experience their prom — dressed impeccably, feeling confident, and creating lasting memories. Yet for many East Baton Rouge Parish high school students, financial barriers make this impossible. Alsen Pride Lodge No. 253 removes those barriers completely.
Each year, we sponsor five high school students (3 young men, 2 young women) with a comprehensive prom package: professional formal attire, custom fitting, grooming and styling services, accessories, and professional photoshoots — all at zero cost to their families.
These aren't just clothes. They're an investment in young people's sense of possibility, pride, and belonging.
Support This ProgramProgram Timeline
Suit & Dress Drive
Community collects formal wear donations. The public can donate gently-used formal attire of all sizes.
Honoree Selection
Five students are identified and invited. Selection criteria: demonstrated character, financial need, and commitment to attend prom.
Program Launch
Orientation for honorees. Sizing and fitting begins. Fashion and grooming workshops are conducted.
Annual Fundraising Gala
Adult Prom Gala — January 16 or 23, 2027 (date to be finalized). Black-tie fundraiser at Brec Greenwood Theater, Baker, Louisiana: live music, silent auction, formal dinner, debut of newly raised Master Masons, and sponsor recognition.
Makeovers & Photoshoots
Professional styling sessions, grooming consultations, and professional photoshoots.
Prom Attendance
Students attend their high school proms wearing complete outfits provided by the lodge, with professional photos captured.
Program Closure & Celebration
A celebration event recognizes the honorees; testimonials are collected and planning begins for the next cohort.
How You Can Help Project Silk & Silhouette
Donate Formal Wear
Gently-used suits, dresses, and formal wear in all sizes (XS–XXL). Timeline: August–October annually.
Donate Funds
Support grooming, professional photography, accessories, and program administration year-round.
GiveProvide Services
We need barbers, beauticians, photographers, tailors, and transportation providers.
